Ayona Young, LMSW

Practicing since: 2025
Ayona Young graduated from Morgan State University with a Master’s degree in Social Work. Her work with children, adolescents, and families inspired her to pursue a career in mental health. Her experiences in schools and community programs taught her that healing and personal growth begin in a safe space where individuals feel heard, supported, and empowered. Ayona is passionate about helping others navigate life’s challenges, recognize their strengths, and work toward becoming the best version of themselves.
Ayona’s background in social work includes crisis intervention, case management, and evidence-based treatment for children, adolescents, and families. She views the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative partnership, helping clients build practical coping skills, strengthen resilience, and navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence. Her approach to treatment is collaborative and client-centered, using a mix of supportive counseling, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and solution-focused strategies. When working with children and adolescents, she incorporates emotional regulation skills and developmentally appropriate interventions to help them better understand and express their emotions.
Clients can expect a respectful, nonjudgmental space where they can openly explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Ayona’s client-centered approach allows her to meet individuals where they are and move at a pace that feels comfortable and realistic. She believes therapy is a collaborative process and is committed to helping clients build confidence, overcome challenges, and make meaningful progress toward their goals.
Ayona Young, LMSW, is licensed in the state of Maryland (#35041) and under the clinical supervision of Eric Kuessner, LCSW-C (#22502).
